The plain-English version of how we work.

Prices and quotes

Online prices are based on the answers you give us. If the pre-scan shows something different, we tell you the new price before any work starts. If you decide not to go ahead after the pre-scan, you pay only the call-out and diagnostic (£90 inc VAT in S and DN postcodes, £114 elsewhere; trade £60 + VAT). That covers our visit, a full pre-scan with a written report you keep, and a visual and physical check of the sensor and its mounting where it can be reached. If coding, programming or a part is needed, we tell you the price and you agree it before we do it. Prices for private customers include VAT; trade prices are shown before VAT.

If a calibration can't be completed

You don't pay for a calibration we can't complete. You pay the call-out and diagnostic fee (£75 + VAT in S and DN postcodes, or £95 + VAT elsewhere; trade £60 + VAT), which covers our visit, a full pre-scan with a written report you keep, and a visual and physical check of the sensor and its mounting where it can be reached.

If we attend but can't start any work, for example because the car isn't ready, there's no level ground or nobody is there with the keys, a minimum charge of £40 + VAT (£48 inc VAT) applies.

What we need from you

  • The car on flat, level ground with a minimum of 2 metres clear in front where the calibration uses targets (up to 5 metres for some cars), or booked into our Sheffield calibration bay
  • Good conditions for the calibration, as the car maker's procedure sets out: steady light, not straight into low sun; dry weather or somewhere under cover (we can't set up outdoors in the rain, so if it's wet on the day we'll rebook or use our Sheffield calibration bay); and nothing shiny or cluttered near the car or targets, such as other cars, bins, glass or metal doors. If your drive doesn't suit on the day, we'll book you into our Sheffield calibration bay instead
  • Tyres at the correct pressures and nothing heavy loaded that changes the ride height
  • Any repairs finished before we arrive, so the systems can be calibrated in their final position

Payment

Private customers pay on completion, using the Pay Now link on their invoice (card or Pay by Bank from your banking app), by bank transfer or in cash. Registered trade partners pay within 14 days of the invoice date. All other customers, trade or private, pay on the day of the job, using the Pay Now link on the invoice. For overdue trade invoices we may claim interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

If it needs recalibrating again

On every calibration: if a system we calibrated needs recalibrating again within one month of our visit (three months for trade accounts), we'll come back and recalibrate it at no extra charge, travel included. If your quote or invoice from us shows a longer period, that period applies to that job.

  • It applies to the same system on the same vehicle, from the date of the original calibration
  • It doesn't apply after new damage, a new windscreen, replaced sensors or brackets, or changes to suspension, ride height, wheels or tyres after our visit
  • It doesn't apply after software updates, coding or programming done by someone else
  • It doesn't apply if a camera, radar, sensor or module has been removed, replaced or refitted by someone else, or after other repairers' work in that area of the car
  • It doesn't apply if a battery disconnection or reset has lost the calibration
  • It doesn't apply to faults unrelated to the calibration, such as wiring, ABS or a failed sensor. We'll diagnose these and quote before any work
  • What we do is recalibrate that system. If we can't, we refund what you paid for that calibration
  • Call us to book the recalibration. There's no charge for the visit or the travel, anywhere in our usual area

6-month cover

Private customers can choose it for £24 more on the calibration (£20 + VAT), when they get their price online or when we call to confirm the price. It works the same way as above, but for six months from the date of the calibration. The same conditions apply. It applies to that one calibration and doesn't renew. If you change your mind, you can cancel the 6-month cover within 14 days of booking for a full refund of the extra £24, as long as it hasn't been used.

This is in addition to your legal rights. If our work wasn't done with reasonable care and skill, we'll put it right whether or not this applies.

Photos of the work

We photograph the set-up and results for your reports and our records. We may also use photos of the work on our website or social media, but only with number plates, people and anything that could identify you or your home removed. If you'd rather we didn't use photos of your vehicle at all, just tell us, and we'll remove any already published.

Working hours and out-of-hours visits

We work Monday to Thursday 8am–5pm and Friday 8am–4pm. We don't work weekends. Visits can be booked outside these hours on weekdays by arrangement (Friday evenings only by arrangement), for an out-of-hours charge per visit: £50 + VAT (£60 inc VAT) if the visit starts before 8am or between 5pm and 8pm, and £95 + VAT (£114 inc VAT) if it starts after 8pm. The charge depends on the agreed start time and is shown in your quote before you book. If a visit that started in working hours runs past 5pm, there's no extra charge.

Cancelling

Let us know as early as you can if you need to rearrange. You can cancel or rearrange free of charge until we send our On My Way text. After that, a minimum charge of £40 + VAT (£48 inc VAT) applies.
